Meet The Team
At 9 Months our team is our strength, this has been commented on by OFSTED and was recently highlighted in our Quality Assurance Accreditation Award.
We value our differences and backgrounds and celebrate our individual approaches to childcare. Through our varying qualifications and childcare practice, as a team we have a wealth of knowledge which is rich in diversity and experience.
There are not many people I know today who love their job as much as I do. Caring for and educating the next generation is the most rewarding career I can think of and everyday brings new challenges and new developments. Children today are curious and vivacious little people and engaging them keeps you young and keeps you smiling. I endeavour to provide the most stimulating environment I can for the children and the staff, so that every child has the best start in life. I hope I will always be lucky enough to be surrounded by the best generation there is. - Tasneem Ramji – Owner/Manager
Initially undertaking my NVQ 3 whilst working at 9months for 3 years, I took a year’s break to become an NVQ Assessor. I returned to 9 Months as Training coordinator and also trained to be the SENCO for the setting. With time, I have gained valuable experience and skills which have led me to the post of Deputy Manager. I still work in the toddler room and have my own key group as my work and bond with the children is my highest priority. Working with children is my forte and 9months is like my second home. - Neha Dabhi - Deputy Manager & Training Development Officer
I joined 9 Months as a CCE student in 2001. I have worked with many experienced and qualified staff, from whom I have gained knowledge, confidence and a better understanding of the professional child care environment. After completing my CCE, I started work at 9 Months as a nursery assistant. As a nursery assistant I worked hard to maintain the rules and using my own initiative I upheld the high standards of the nursery. After 6 years working at 9 Months, I have progressed to Team Leader and Head of the baby room. I am a kind and gentle person, who is caring and affectionate towards children, staff and parents alike. I try to establish a better working environment for everyone to create positive relationships. I have undertaken several courses, which enabled me to refresh my knowledge and allow me to work efficiently with the babies and create a loving atmosphere. I have brought up three of my own children which started me on my path of childcare & education. I have just completed my NVQ III which I found stimulating and incredibly motivating. - Sumera Sukhera – Team Leader & Head of Baby Unit

Why Choose 9MN?
9MN was established as a high quality Nursery in 2001, offering an exceptional service to parents and superior facilities for children of all ages. We are continuously striving to preserve these high standards in care & education on a daily basis. Read more..
Surpassing Preschool Standards
Children leaving the Preschool room in order to begin school are usually beyond the average reading level compared with their new classroom peers. In fact, school teachers have regularly commented on the significantly high levels of reading and mathematics in the preschool room . This is not because we push the academic goals, it is a natural consequence of spending time in a text rich environment, where books are plentiful and learning is fun and interesting and Teachers have time to spend quality time with the children.
Excellent Staff Ratios
At 9MN we are able to offer our children quality time and individual learning experiences, due to the fact that we operate over and above the Ofsted required ratios. We are able to take children out in the local environment and offer 1:1 time when required.
Not at all, we take children from 6 months old, therefore potty training is not an issue. In fact, if parents have not approached us and we feel that your child is ready, the keyworker will discuss the possibility of starting to train as soon as possible.
Once you have registered at 9MN you will be asked to provide nappies, formula milk, a change of clothes including sunhat in the summer and wellies in the winter and a toothbrush when your child has teeth. We will provide wipes, creams, meals and buggies for walks. You may find it helpful to provide a favourite toy or comforter during the first few weeks of settling in.
We always recommend that you visit the nursery before registering or joining the waiting list. Appointments must be made in advance in order to reduce disruptions to the childrens routine and offer prospective parents the opportunity to observe children in their play. Appointments can be made at 10.00am or 2.00pm Monday to Friday. In special circumstances, viewings can be made out of nursery hours, however this is not recommended as you will not be able to see the children in their environment.
Once you have made a visit to 9MN and decided that you would like to register, you will need to complete a registration form, which can be downloaded here
, and return this to the nursery together with the relevant deposit, in order to confirm the days you require. See Admissions policy for further details.
Passwords to view the webcams are only given to registered parents, once their child has started to attend. All parents sign a disclaimer, confirming that they will not give the password to any third party. Security of the site is checked regularly.
You will receive a step by step guide once your child has compete the settling in process
There is a fee of £50 to join the waiting list, which is fully refundable once you join the nursery. There is however, no guarantee as to when the place will become available. If you decide to take a place at another nursery in the meantime, you will lose the deposit.
Every child is assigned a keyperson within the nursery. This is a member of staff who will be ultimately responsible for settling the child in together with the parent. She will write your child’s observations and monitor their developmental progress. The key person will inform you of what has taken place during the day, keep a record of sleep, toileting and feed patterns and be the key person with whom you will communicate regarding any developmental issues. Although all of the 9MN team work very closely, the keyperson is extremely important, especially for the babies, in order to form a close bond with their carer. Once the child is fully settled, any practitioner in the room is able to offer daily feedback, under the guidance of the Key person.
Fresh air & outdoor play is essential for babies and children of all ages. It gives them the opportunity to play in larger areas thus encouraging physical development and natural daylight is a vital source of essential vitamins needed for healthy skin and bones. Babies and children will go into the garden or local walks every day, regardless of weather, to play with bikes, climbing apparatus, swings, build their own obstacle courses and even water, sand and messy play. This is in accordance with the Childrens Act, which ensures children go outside to enjoy learning every day. We are lucky enough to have a small group of children, which means we can take the children to explore their local environment regularly. Children visit the park, library, fire station, local shops and points of interest once a week at least.…
Every child is an individual and will therefore settle into a new environment in their own time. We have found that our comprehensive settling period at 9MN works well with most children, however, if you feel that you need more or fewer sessions, this can be planned on an individual basis. We need to give children at least 3 months after their settling in period, before making any judgements regarding their progress. If after this time period you feel that your child is not settling, alternative routines can be discussed with the Keyperson and Manager.
9MN is open 51 weeks a year and is only closed between Christmas and New Year. We are fully staffed throughout the year, as families will go on holidays at different times. As with all day nurseries, fees are payable regardless of absence due to holidays or sickness. However, in order to ease the financial burden, we offer parents the privilege of selling their days on to other 9MN children when on holiday …
All children are given breakfast, snack, lunch and tea whilst they are at 9MN and we have been awarded the Healthy Settings Award
. Breakfast is served between 8am and 8.45am and is a variety of healthy cereals, wholemeal toast and a selection of spreads. Morning snack is either fresh fruit or vegetables and is offered at different times of the day depending on demand of the children. Lunch is freshly prepared on the premises by our loving and experienced cook, it is served at 11.00 and consists of main course and dessert and is usually a culinary delight. A light tea is served at 3.00 and this is usually finger foods e.g. stuffed pitas, sandwiches, soup and toast, bagels etc. Young babies will have their own menu and the cook and keyperson will work with parents on weaning when it is time. Menus are displayed in the nursery or are available to view online here..
Yes, 9MN belongs to the local Early Years Development for Childcare Partnership. This means that we are inspected twice a year, in addition to any OFSTED visits, we receive support and advice from teachers in the borough and members of our team receive additional training throughout the year. For our parents, it means that once your child reaches the age of 3 years, your child’s fees will automatically be reduced to incorporate the government funding. Every child is entitled to receive this funding from the term AFTER their 3rd birthday.
Yes, we are inspected every 4 years as we always receive a good grade with areas of outstanding practice, which we are very proud of. The report is available on the OFSTED and 9MN website and is always on the parents notice board in the nursery to view
If you have more than one child attending the nursery at the same time, each additional child is entitled to a 10% discount on all monthly fees. If you have triplets, a special fee can be negotiated.
At 9MN security is a priority; we have spared no expense in securing our premises to the highest level. The electric gate remains locked at all times and is operated by a video entry system. If any member of staff does not recognise the visitor they will not be allowed into the nursery and parents and visitors are informed that a penalty will be incurred for leaving the gate open. We take this matter very seriously. CCTV cameras are in operation outside the nursery 24 hours a day and children are not released to non-regular parents or carers, unless a specific password has been organised with their key person.
As we expect high preschool standards and provide a varied and extensive curriculum, it is important that we develop strong relationships with local schools in the area. Over the years we have established firm ties with independent schools in the surrounding areas and it has eased the enrolment process considerably. Parents can gain an insight into the school prior to visiting and Head teachers recognise that children from 9MN are well developed, active learners with a strong sense of self and outstanding interpersonal skills.
